Itinerary - Kayak Black Canyon

Arrive at Desert Adventures for check-in and paperwork. Coffee and restrooms are available as guests are fitted with equipment and buy any last minute items. |

Drive to the staging area and go through security check (need I.D.) to gain access to the Hoover Dam launch site. |
| 8:00 a.m. |
|
Arrive at base of Hoover Dam and Colorado River. Unload equipment and gear. Basic paddling instruction will be provided, along with use of boats and general safety briefing. Begin paddling once group is in the water. Kayak about .25 mile. |

Visit a slot canyon and do some light hiking to hot springs. Explore, take photos, or soak in the mineral waters. |

Arrive at AZ hot springs beach where you will have a chance to hike to hot springs and spend some time soaking. If temperatures allow, you can swim in the river. Outhouses are available at this beach. |

Lunch Break. Enjoy a deli style lunch from a local deli on the beach. Relax in the sun or take a swim in the refreshing waters. |

Historic gauging station and tramways. Kayak another 1 mile. |

Arrive at Willow Beach. Unpack and load boats. Restrooms and cold beverages are available at the marina. |

Activities: Kayaking, Hiking, Swimming, Hot Springs, Wildlife Viewing
Details: Approximately 4-5 hours of paddling on the Colorado River. Water conditions are mostly flat, but can be choppy depending on wind, waves, and weather. Some sections have strong eddy lines and currents.
Equipment: Kayaks are high end, stable, and have rudders for steering. All safety equipment is provided, along with dry bags. Single or tandem boats available.
Hiking: Short hikes in narrow slot canyons. Terrain is flat gravel washes, and volcanic rock, wet and slippery.
Hot Springs: 85F - 120F
