Itinerary - Black Canyon Trips

Desert Adventures offers year-round canoe and kayak rentals in Black Canyon. With daily launches from the base of the mighty Hoover Dam, you can experience the wonder of Black Canyon, and soak in natural hot springs. You might see desert bighorn sheep, hawks, lizards, and can paddle into sea caves and hidden coves.

Winter paddling is relaxing, with smooth and glassy waters. Summer heat makes the Colorado river very inviting. Day trips give you a quick overview, but those wishing to really explore should consider camping for 2-3 days in the heart of Black Canyon.

Canoe and kayak rentals include boat, paddle, PFD, rope, topo map, and round-trip shuttle service.

PERMITS:   Access to the launch site requires each person obtain a $22 NPS permit. Beginning 6/1/18 permit fees will be $27. Permits are limited and sell out quickly (up to 6 months in advance!)
Call 702-293-5026 to reserve your permits today.

IMPORTANT:   This trip is not recommended for children under the age of 6 years unless you are an experienced paddler with strong rescue skills (in the event of a capsize).

When you rent equipment and venture into the backcountry alone, you are taking inherent risks. You are assuming responsibility for those risks, and acknowledging you have adequate skills to deal with emergencies on your own. There are no rescue services in the canyon - the only way out is to paddle. If you abandon your equipment, the trip leader will be responsible for all charges incurred for retrieval or damages to equipment.

Please be aware that self-guided paddlers are responsible for getting their group to the take-out point on time. Late fees may be assessed if you do not arrive at the take-out point on time. Please see our Policies Section for details.

Desert Adventures cannot be held responsible for weather conditions, wind, rain, heat, or other elements of nature. Keep in mind, you are choosing to venture into a primitive area where access is limited and there is no cell phone reception. You should be self-sufficient in rescues, and confident to deal with emergencies on your own. Plan ahead.

Take a paddling class and learn how to be self-sufficient. You are responsible for yourself.

Itinerary - Lake Mead

Kayak rentals and delivery available for use on Lake Mead! Rent a sit-on-top kayak for the kids for a few hours, or paddle a double kayak out to the Boulder Islands and have a picnic. Enjoy swimming in the warm waters of Lake Mead, while paddling a canoe. Fill your cooler with some cold beverages and kick back while cruising the shoreline at sunset.
