Yes! We offer student backpacker rates, which are discounted. You must supply a valid/current student ID to qualify.
Do you offer any discounts for children (or other)?
Children age 6-14 years receive a $50 dollar discount per person for any guided multi-day trip. All guided day tours are $10 discount.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Yes. To make the most of our trip, we rise early and retire late. Young children sometimes
struggle with the lengthy days, and long drives. For the enjoyment of everyone on the multi-day canyon trips,
we ask that children be at least 6 years of age, or older.
What kind of experience do your guides have?
Our guides have years of experience in the outdoors; both personally and professionally. They possess a vast
knowledge of the areas we visit, the trails, the wildlife, the plants, and weather patterns. Before they can become
lead guides, they must undergo strict training programs which prepare them to manage groups, make good decisions,
and handle emergencies. CPR and First Aid training, as well as Wilderness First Aid or First Responder is standard,
and we carry satellite radios and/or cell phones at all times.
Is there white water rafting?
On the Zion Express and Canyon Escape trips, you can tube in the Virgin River, but there is no rafting. If you
opt for the 4-day Grand Circle, we add an extra day for whitewater rafting activities.
What should I bring/wear?
Take a look at our packing list section, for a complete outline of items to bring on the Canyon Escape. If you have questions, don't hesitate to call our office. We will be happy to answer any questions you have about clothing, hiking boots, sleeping bag ratings, etc.
Do you supply alcohol? May we bring our own?
We do not supply alcohol (nor is it allowed during activities), however you may bring your own for dinner,
or the campfire. You will have an opportunity to purchase last minute snacks, beer, or wine before heading
to camp, so if this interests you, bring some spending cash.
When should I make a reservation?
Space is limited, so you should make your reservations as early as possible. Please see our section on
Rates & Dates for availability,
or call our friendly reservation staff.
Are there minimum participant requirements?
Yes. In order to keep prices affordable, our trips have a minimum number of participants in order to run as
scheduled. In the event we are 1 or 2 people short, we will offer the option of still running the trip, for a
small additional fee. We will also do everything in our power to reschedule you, or move you to another tour
- even if it means with another company. If none of these options work with your schedule, we will refund your
How much should I tip my guide?
Your guides work very hard to make sure your experience is rewarding and memorable. They often spend hours preparing before your
trip to ensure your comfort and physical needs are met. During a trip, your guide is constantly on the lookout to minimize risks
and maximize enjoyment. They appreciate your verbal praise and thanks, as well as monetary gratuities. Any cash tips can be given
to the guide at the end of the trip. Gratuities generally range between 10%-20% of the total trip price, at your discretion.

notice and rescheduling fees will apply. Desert Adventures will not issue any refund for leaving a trip early, or
